Uchida
A moment to unwind in the city.
Musashi-Koyama yakitori specialist Uchida draws guests for hearty, juicy skewers, flavourful tsukune meatballs, creative small plates, and a curated selection of sake.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Plumes of fragrant smoke rise from the grill to reveal skewers of eye-catching size. Located in Koyama, Shinagawa Ward, Uchida is a neighbourhood yakitori shop beloved for its generous portions and attentive grilling technique. Each hearty bite delivers crisp seasoning and rich chicken juices, keeping each skewer satisfying to the very last piece.
The menu features familiar favourites such as negima (chicken and scallion), bonjiri (tail), and mid-wing cuts, alongside lighter chicken breast tenders accented with pickled plum or wasabi. Standout orders include the deeply savoury, tender tsukune meatballs and the luscious, whole grilled chicken hearts (maru-hatsu). While waiting for skewers to come off the fire, diners can graze on small plates like refreshing chicken skin with ponzu, lightly seared toriwasa, or a genovese salad spaghetti.
The drinks list holds its own alongside the robust grill menu. Alongside cold draught beer and Hoppy, Uchida keeps an appealing lineup of seasonal and branded sake, making it easy to pair different pours across the meal. It is the sort of welcoming evening spot that invites you to drop in, unwind, and enjoy good skewers with a drink.
